  1. I think the funniest moment would have to be when the king in The Twelve Dancing Princesses realizes that an old soldier just saved his kingdom. Okay, maybe it's not written in, but the way I picture it is absolutely HILARIOUS.

  2. A funny moment in a fairy tale, how about when baby bear says "Someone's been sleeping in my bed and she's still there!" and the delinquent Goldilocks jumps up and runs away. What was the purpose of that one anyone? Don't break into a stranger's house and fall asleep? Got it! Or how about when a princess has to kiss a lowly frog? I bet that's pretty funny to watch even if he does turn into a prince. Or a wolf in a granny gown? There are just so many absurd moments that are funny, but not really ha-ha moments.

  3. I think it's utterly ridiculous that Rapunzel was named after lettuce. I don't know if it was her parents or the witch who named her, but either way they were out of their minds!

  4. When Hansel & Greatle think it would be a good idea to mark a trail using breadcrumbs- surely children brought up near a forest would know that the birds would eat them!

  5. The turn in The Salad when the soldier turns the witch and her daughter into donkeys is pretty funny to me.

  6. I think it's hilarious in The White Snake when the beautiful princess acts all spoiled and needs her father's servant to do a bunch of things, because she can't see with her own two stupid eyes that he's wonderful!

  7. I think one of the funniest moments is in Goldilocks and the Three Bears when the chair falls apart. It just always struck me as hilarious, even as a child, and, when I laughed, my mother did, too!

  8. It always made me giggle when Rumpelstiltskin got so mad he tore himself in half. Maybe it was the way my sister told it, but I found it hilarious!

  9. I was always concerned about how well Rapunzel washed her hair. I have medium length & it's a pain.

  10. When I put "fairytale" and "funny" together, the first thing I think of is the author's note at the beginning of Vivian Vande Velde's The Rumplestilskin Problem. Vande Velde retells the original story without making changes, but inserts her own commentary as she goes. I crack up every time I read it.

  11. I think of when the princess realizes she must kiss the frog is the funniest.

  12. I've always thought The Princess and the Pea was funny because she is able to feel this miniscule pea beneath a bajillion mattresses!

  13. I love in Hansel and Gretel how in the end they just shove the witch into the oven like it's nothing. They don't even think twice about it :P

  14. I think one of the funniest moments in a fairytale is when Little Red Riding Hood realizes she's not talking to her grandmother but a wolf dressed in her grandmother's clothing. That must've been a sight! Granted, her grandmother had been munched on, but it still had to have been pretty funny.

  15. The funniest fairy tale moment is when Rumplestiltskin's name is guessed.

  16. I love moments in the old Grimm's tales that are radically different than the stories we tell today, such as when the spell is broken by the princess throwing the frog at the wall, not kissing him or when Rumplestilkin gets so mad that the queen guessed his name that he rips himself in half.
